Juvenile Record Expungement

Ensuring a Childhood Mistake Doesn't Limit a Lifetime of Opportunity

Juvenile Expungement Attorney Grand Rapids

Clearing a Juvenile Adjudication

A juvenile record can create unexpected hurdles as a young adult enters the workforce or applies for college. Expungement (setting aside an adjudication) allows a person to legally state they have not been convicted of a crime. While law enforcement maintains a non-public record, the public record is cleared, removing the barriers to employment and housing.

Krupp Law Offices P.C. has over 85 years of experience navigating the Michigan juvenile justice system. We help families clear these records quickly and efficiently.

Juvenile Eligibility (MCLA 712A.18e)

To qualify for a juvenile set-aside in Michigan, the following general criteria must be met:

  • The 5-Year / Age 24 Rule: You must wait 5 years after your disposition/detention is completed, or until you reach age 24 (whichever is later).
  • Adjudication Limits: Generally, you may only have one juvenile adjudication set aside, and you must have no felony convictions on your adult record.
  • Offense Restrictions: Traffic offenses and serious felonies punishable by life imprisonment are generally ineligible for expungement.

The Process

Juvenile expungements typically take 5 to 6 weeks. We handle the application, coordinate with the State Police for fingerprinting, and represent you at the required court hearing.

The Investment

The total cost is typically under $1,500.00. This includes all filing fees, state processing fees, and comprehensive legal representation.

Why Experience Matters

Setting aside a juvenile record is a discretionary act by the court. The judge must be convinced that your behavior since the adjudication warrants a fresh start and that it serves the public interest. Our attorneys know the local courts in Kent, Ottawa, and Muskegon counties and how to present your case effectively to the judge.
